Leaping River: 1,737 words
Esme Hollow: 2,700 words

Leaping River

The wiry dame walked along the River, her tail swishing back and forth. Her jaws parted to a yawn. The juniper berries Honey Heart had gave her had helped, but that didn’t mean she slept often. Resting was easier now, but Leaping River worried about becoming dependent on the herb. She’d purposely tried to keep herself busy and away from Misty Willow. Not to mention not being true to her Pack. Her tongue lapped the cold stream water. The white she-cat looked up to see the cinnamon-smellin tortoiseshell on the other side of the small stream. The warrior froze. She knew Esme Hollow wasn’t into she-cats, but River felt calm around her.

Esme Hollow

The curvy tortoiseshell wavered her whiskers from where she was drinking, finding a friendly face by the waterside, and she couldn’t help but smile, no matter what her romantic interests may have been, they made no difference in her interactions with others. (Which mind you, Esme Hollow only had experiences with tom-cats, who knew if perhaps, she could sway differently on some occasion.) Esme Hollow pulled away from rapids, unable to contain her typical witty dabble as she quipped at her packmate. ”I don’t see you leapin’ many rivers, Darlin’, but my, my, I’m so happy to see you! G’morning hmm!” She couldn’t help but hum, and meet her friend half-way, rushing into the river a bit recklessly filled with undaunted pep as she swam across. ”Howdy!” She exclaimed as she pulled out from the tides and onto the land courageous. ”How’ve you been faring, Leaping dear? Have you been well? I sure hope so.”

Leaping River

Leaping River couldn’t help but laugh. She loved Esme’s flowy, energetic personality. Always packed with surprises and jokes. ”I’ve been doing well, thank you!” Would I have to fight her in the future if my leader commanded so? Leaping River crouched down and stared at the water. A small orb began to form into the air. Leaping River’s heterochromatic eyes then stared down the tortoiseshell’s green ones. The water orb soon hit the dame on the opposite side of the stream in her face.

Esme Hollow

Esme Hollow certainly tried her very best to find smiles and laughs between her friends and even packmates; all she wanted deep down, was to ensure their happiness, and give them something to be joyful about, she hoped it wasn’t too must to ask. ”No problem! I’m so glad to hear, darlin’. I was getting worry about you. Haven’t seen you around to much in camp. You’re either like awesome at hide and seek, or maybe despite being as sweet as lilacs you’re avoiding me! The tortoiseshell hummed with a chuckle, just pulling at her leg a bit. ”No, no I’m just joshing y’know, but I really missed you, Leaping River. What’ve you been up to? Heard Honey Heart gave you some meds but then again what’s new, that’s his job ha!” As soon as an orb burst into her face, she was caught off guard. Esme Hollow giggled with dripping whiskers, she would have used her element to get back at her friend but... she was a fire elementalist, it was far too dangerous. Stars forbid if she got burned Esme would never forgive herself. Regardless, Esme Hollow lunged at her, going in for a playful tackle similar to how most kits would act. ”Rawr!”

Leaping River

The dame burst into laughter as a Esme Hollow tackled her. The two collided into the small stream, and Leaping River could feel the cold water near her ears. The warrior lifted her head from the stream and poked Esme Hollow’s wet nose. ”Get off of me you great lump!” River began to kick the tortoiseshell with her hind legs, though not hard so she wouldn’t hurt her.

Esme Hollow

Esme Hollow couldn’t help but shout out an indignant cry. She had always been so rebellious, Oak Breeze just couldn’t handle the fire she held, and her antics. The tortie poked up her dappled nose, finding a white paw to come down on it. The tide caused her body to press against Leaping River’s as they both tried to get up. Esme held on, feeling the frisky kicks from her friend, unable to stop her laughter. ”Who you callin’ great lump, Darlin’!? I ain’t that chubby!!” She howled, seemingly wading through the water find her way to hold onto her sides, Esme placed her head on her neck with a chuckle as she tried to get up onto the land. ”Ha!!”

Leaping River

Leaping River kept purring in amusement. Esme Hollow was so much fun to be around. Leaping River letbthe tortoiseshell dame wade off of her. The white warrior easily waded through the water. Her paw lifted up into the air and as the paw pad touched the water, a small layer of ice appeared. The ice kept growing until it was big enough to carry River. The water elementalist jumped onto the ice and nearly slipped as it swayed back and forth through the stream. She was so glad she’d learned this skill. The she-cat laughed as she watched Esme Hollow struggle to reach the shore.

Esme Hollow

Inwardly, Esme cussed herself out as she was knocked back into the chilled torrents below. Leaping River on the other hand was using her own element to gain and advantage, creating a slicked down sheet across the water. Esme Hollow struggled get back onto the banks, especially because of the fact she couldn’t stop laughing, her sides were beginning to ache and her face hurt from smiling so much. ”Gahh! I’m gonna getcha, dear! Just you wait!!~” The curvy tortie declared, trying to find a way to reach Leaping River who was on the other side.

Leaping River

Ice bumped into the other side of the stream and Leaping River stepped off. She quickly began to shake any water that clung to her short-haired pelt. Her other paw pushed the ice sheet over to Esme Hollow. If she catches me I’ll just walk on the water... The white warrior had forgotten she could walk on the water. She once again tried not to laugh as the tortoiseshell teased her but was struggling so much in the small stream. ”You can use the ice if you want!” River hollered.

Esme Hollow

The tortoiseshell took no time to beckon herself over the ice sheet, racing and sliding to her to Leaping River with an indignant cry. ”I’m going to catch you! Just you wait!!” She accidentally activated on of her skills, temperature control and melted all of the sheets in a matter of moments, submerging herself in the river, she let out a yelp, finding her way to the stones as she tried to sort out a plausible attack with flame seer. When Leaping River had gotten close enough, she used the remainder of her prowess in her element, summoning a will o’ wisp to lead Leaping River in her direction as she went under water in elaborate planning. With her friend’s paws touching water, Esme went in like a shark and grabbed her friend’s paw, dragging her down frisky.

Leaping River

Leaping River shrieked as Esme Hollow’s will o’ wisp grew closer and closer. River began running on the stream, thanks to her water walking ability. Then, she felt a tug on her paw. She lost concentration and fell through the water. Thank goodness she could breath underneath as well. Her heterochromatic eyes opened to see the tortoiseshell staring back at her as well. The white she-cat smiled and pushed on the dame. The waves rocked them both closer to the shore and once Leaping River pulled her head up to the surface, she began to laugh. The dame hadn’t had this much fun in so long.

Esme Hollow

By the time they were on the shore, Esme Hollow just burst out in laughter besides her friend, she found tears soak her emerald eyes, and she wiped them with one of her tortie ginger and white splashed paws as she rolled over in her back, staring up at the sky and the clouds for a moment, before returning her attention to Leaping River. ”Damn! I haven’t had so much fun in so long, darlin’! I’m sorry our last meeting was tense, I’m so happy I can call you my friend. You’re a blast, Leaping River! I adore you!” She giggled, turning over to give her friend a playful nudge, her maw poking her in the shoulder as a paw came to give a gentle touch. ”Whoo! I’m stoked and outta breath... Wanna watch the clouds or something so we can chillax, dear? You sure gave me a run for my money.” Esme panted, a wide smile framed pleasantly on her masked face.

Leaping River

The white she-cat laughed along with Esme Hollow. The two now lied down on the shore. Leaping River kept staring at the tortoiseshell’s glossy pelt and her emerald eyes. She was too distracted to pay attention to Esme’s words that she just smiled and nodded. I can’t love her though...What if I have to fight her? And she doesn’t like she-cats...so it’s useless... Leaping River snapped out of her dreaming phase when the other warrior asked her to watch the clouds with her. ”Oh! Um, sure.” Her heterochromatic eyes looked up to the sky and she rolled on her back. The sky seemed a pastel blue with a wisps of white fluffiness and a few giant beasts of clouds.

Esme Hollow

Esme Hollow vivaciously giggle, giving a soft shimmy as she rolled over to face her alabaster and ebony toned companion more-so, her emerald gaze glistening and glittering with delight. ”Yay! It’s so pretty outside today, I’m glad I get to cloudgaze with you, Leaping River.” The tortoiseshell added on with a soft hum as she peered up into the sky above, the clouds rolling by ever so slowly, a kind a continued amount of cotton candy sifting through the cerulean atmosphere. ”Hey, look at that one! It looks like a turtle!” She mewed, raising a splashed tortie paw towards the sky.

Leaping River

Leaping River gave the tortie a strange look and only giggled. ”What in the stars’ name is a turtle ?” Her blue and yellow eyes looked up at the floating shape. She’d seen something like that before, near the shores, but never knew the name.

Esme Hollow

Esme Hollow had believed she had heard it all, but that was until Leaping River admitted she truly had no idea what a turtle was. The tortie cracked up, tears storming her emerald gaze as she had to regather herself. "Oh dear, darling! You're gonna kill me. You don't know what a turtle is? Heck. They call me a tortoiseshell cat cause my coat, y'know a tortoise just being a land turtle and such. It's them river dwellers, kinda like you but not as sweet and cool! They're the ones with the shells, babe!" Esme Hollow chuckled pressing a paw to her face, staring up at the sky but then her eyes lingered on Leaping River more-so. "You might have not seen em'. They live deep down in the riverbeds, I could imagine."

Leaping River

The dame blushed when she heard Esme Hollow refer to her as ’babe.’ The warrior’s paw pushed on the tortoiseshell’s nose. ”Hey! Don’t pester me like that!” She began to giggle as well. ”It’s not fault! I never notice the animals on the river that much!” Unlike your pretty eyes... She stared back at the she-cat’s gorgeous emerald eyes. She remembered Esme Hollow when she came to camp. Her original name, Esmeralda, suited her. Leaping River remebered playing with her a few times as a Trainee, but still kept close to herself.

Esme Hollow

The curvy tortoiseshell could not contain her laughter when it came to Leaping River and her lack of noting the kinds of critters in the river. She shook away the thoughts, how ironic! ”Yo! I’m not pestering you, I’m just making a point, you silly turtle-lover. You’re name is literally Leaping River. You should be a bit sad that you didn’t know bout’ another river dweller like yourself!” Esme replied playfully, those gems in her head twinkling like every night sky that ever rose above. Esme Hollow could recall those memories, remembering the young alabaster trainee coming to play with her, even if she was shy about it. She was thankful for those times, she wishes that Leaping River knew she hadn’t forgotten. That was when she opened her mouth, and hummed softly. ”Y’know, I remember when you used to come and play with me when I was just a little babe. Those were one of the funnest times of my whole kit hood, River. I legit thought I could do anything when we were playing moss ball, I felt like a real warrior!”

Leaping River

The white dame blushed slightly. ”I remember those times as well. You struggled so much I had to use my element to help you. I even lifted you up into the air with my water ability once I believe!” Leaping River conjured up a small water ball, around the size of a newborn kit, into the air from the stream. It spinner and twirled around in the sky. The dame let the ball fly up into the air and let go of her element. A splash of cold water splattered onto her face, ruining her fur.

Esme Hollow

”For stars-struck, me too, I wouldn’t trade em’ for the entire world! Hey, you can’t blame a girl for tryin’, especially a little babe at the very least! I never could understand the elements and stuff and then you just came in and showed me the power of water. Oh I totally remember that. You made me soar, Leaping River! I went flyin’ like all them free birds!” The gingery ghost-splashed Esme reminiscences, ”I remember you soaked from head to toe, dear, and I didn’t cry, I just laughed!” Esme Hollow mentally relived the memory, being so high above in the air, staring down with those emerald kit eyes, squealing as she went down, water splashing over Leaping River’s face and then over herself. ”Should have named me Esme Water, I was so fond of it and so fond of you, still am, for starters. It would have been such a lovely dedication!” She mewed sweetly with a kind of considerate doting she was known for.

Leaping River

Leaping River wiped the water off her face with her paw and stared back with a big smile. She could feel her face growing pinker and hotter, but she was having too much fun to care. ”I remember when you first discovered your element! You were so excited to show me and Honey Heart you nearly burned both of us to smithereens!” Memories began to flood back she remembered seeing the small tortoiseshell kit running up to her, fire on her little paws and the Trainee running away with fear but laughter at the same time.

Esme Hollow

The curvy tortoiseshell paid no mind to the blush on Leaping River’s complexion, she, too, was completely amused and it slipped her mind. After all, this all seemed so platonic, just the way she had to be with Honey Heart as well. ”Oh my. I remember. I was so sad for awhile because I couldn’t summon anything and you and Huns’ were just so cool to me! I thought the fire was so lovely! I’m so glad I didn’t burn either of you guys, you’re both so dear to me!” She chuckled with a soft shrug, shaking her head. ”Man, I’m so glad. Fire is dangerous. Thankfully, nobody got scorched huh?!” Esme remembered chasing Leaping River across camp, Honey Heart profusely calling out to his friend to avoid any injuries; he had always been such a mom friend, but that was why they both adored him so much. She remembered summoning the fire, warmth flooding her feelings as she pursued the trainee to show that she had an element too, regardless of what anybody said about her heritage. ”I’m happy I had an element. I still don’t quite know why really, but I assume it’s from my father being apart of the pack and such. I almost believed I wouldn’t get one.”

Leaping River

”Even if you had no element you’d still be a great she-cat!” The white dame smiled warmly. Old memories came back to her so suddenly. All of them were without Misty Willow. Her sister had suggested at the time to be more open, and River tried doing that at a young age but ultimately became secluded after her sister’s death. The dame stood up from her back and stretched her hind legs. ”Should we get going back to camp?” Her soft blue eye blinked first before her fiery yellow eye.

Esme Hollow

”Aww! Thank you, dear. That means bunches to me.” Esme hummed softly, sniffling a little bit at her emerald’s watered ever so much. She had not forgotten Misty Willow, but her name was not to be mentioned for the grief it caused her sister; the tortie had never understood at such a young age that she had passed away, not for a long time. She could empathize with her friend, she noticed her often distance, it hurt her heart to see her in so much sorrows. The sky had become so gingery and peach toned, it was near sunset. Esme Hollow nodded, purring sweetly, ”Probably. It’s getting late... Thank you, Leaping River. Thank you for everything.”

Leaping River

The warrior nodded and looked back at the sun. It began to slowly set and fade into shades of oranges and red. Her white face was now plastered with pink blush. Leaping River looked back at Esme Hollow as the tortoiseshell stood up as well. She felt her ears grow hot when Esme Hollow said ‘thank you.’ ”No, thank you. I haven’t had this much fun in so long.” Her muzzle touched Esme’s wet nose. Leaping River looked back then in surprise at her movements and her face changed from pink to a deep red. Her ears kept growing hotter and hotter as she continued to stare at the gorgeous dame in front of her.

Esme Hollow

The blooming of spring blossom sakura tones on Leaping River’s cheeks were present, but they were not enough to give the rather oblivious tortie any sign that they meant her companion’s feelings for her; as blushing was accompanied with other emotions and natural bodily actions depending from situations. She had absolutely no clue that Leaping River was smitten with her, but if she did, she certainly wouldn’t turn her friend away. After all, she never knew how she felt about mollies, she had never gotten the chance to figure so she just assumed she was interested in toms. Regardless, Esme Hollow was grinning like the Cheshire Cat, a salmon dusting mantle appeared on her darker cheeks, ”...Aww. Me neither, y’know! I can’t even thank you enough for everything. I’m certainly am in your debt, dearie.” She hummed softly, her emeralds closing for a moment as she gave a wide smile, and then, their muzzles met half-way; Esme hadn’t even realized she was leaning but before she knew it, Leaping River’s lips brushed on her dappled grey and pink nose, and her eyes widened with so many emotions.

At first, she was startled, especially since it has all gone so swiftly that it was almost undetected, but then, she acknowledge, despite her cheeks heating up like a kiln, as sanguine as her character, and then, her emeralds stared straight at the split golden and cerulean eyes that Leaping River bared. She glanced away, trying to soak in the information, but she wasn’t at all clear-minded, her thoughts were loud and drowning, but it didn’t feel wrong. ”Stars...” She muttered over, giving a soft batter to her eyelashes, ”River, was that... was that an accident?” She asked, finding herself to correct herself, “If it wasn’t, don’t worry, I.. I don’t mind. It’s just that— I’ve never .. well smooched a molly and uh- I don’t know to feel but it didn’t feel wrong...”

Leaping River

Her face filled with coral shades of pink and red began to become more apparent that ever. Had she really just done that? Oh my stars... The soft sun landed on both of their faces. Leaping River only stared as Esme Hollow continued to speak, flustered obviously. The white dame was scatterbrained. What had she done? ”I’m s-sorry!” River immediately spoke back. ”I didn’t mean to- well I did but...No wait that’s not what I- I’m sorry I didn’t mean to!” Her black-tipped tail curled around her paws and her head lingered down in shame. She shouldn’t have done that.

Esme Hollow

”O-Oh.” Esme Hollow murmured so demurely, so contrasting from her typical demeanor that was so brazen and saucy. She fluttered her ebony lashes, left aghast with her friend’s reaction, and soon, the tortie was laced with concern when she was busted back to reality. Sunlight slipping from the horizon met their complexions, only shedding more visibility on their reddened faces. ”I— I accept your apology, but I don’t.. I don’t see why you would be apologizing, unless...?” Esme’s emeralds glanced away, but only briefly as she bit her lip, remembering the touch that had occurred with her nose with a cumbersome nostalgia. ”Okay, it’s okay, River. I.. I understand.” She gave a soft light-hearted giggle to fill up the silence, ”And even if you did, I don’t mind. We’re all curious at the end of the day, darlin’!” The tortie assured her friend with a shrug, her whiskers fluttering. If River wanted to go on like nothing even happened, she would be fine with it, it was whatever her friend preferred after all.

Leaping River

Beams of sunset sunlight dazed upon both dames along the shore. Leaping River only looked up a few times as Esme Hollow talked. For some reason she felt ashamed. But she liked the feeling she felt when her muzzle touched the tortoiseshell’s dappled nose. She could smell her cinnamon coat upclose. ”Ok...” The white she-cat muttered softly at Esme Hollow’s whole response. She wanted to the her friend that she had feelings for her. But she was too afraid of what her companion would say. ”I think I...” River spoke in a hushed tone, almost inaudible. Like you... Her tail twitched back and forth nervously. Just say it. Her ears curled behind her skull. Just say it. ”I think I...” Her voice was still low but a little louder. Just say it. She swallowed hard. Just say it.

”I think I like you.”

Esme Hollow

Mist settled from the spray of the torrents of the rushing river, fractals of white line aligning just right, and shimmer bijou rainbows settling across the river and into the sky, just barely staying alight by the film of the remaining light that the sun gave. Her precious jewels of emeralds for eyes laid on Leaping River fondly, a bit dazed in her gaze. She could faintly feel her friend’s anxiety shifting through the air in adrenaline, but her silken complexion stayed so still, so graceful. She had admired her inherited serenity, Leaping River had always appeared so peaceful, especially when she was around Esme.  ”You know. No matter what you say, I won’t turn you away. Your my friend. That’s what friends are for.” Esme smiled sweetly, barely even noticing her own heart competing with her notions sweeping her mind, the racing made her a bit dizzy, albeit, it did not alter her mood, she was as jaunty and as tranquil as ever but just a bit more quiet then usual. ’Mrrr?’ She hummed, chirping slightly as her ears as black as pitch perked towards River, trying to listen attentively and considerately to what she was trying to say. Esme gasped to herself, she was thrown of guard, she hadn’t expected this quite from River, and then, there was silence, but then, after some time she smiled regardless. ”I... think I like you to but as a friend.. River, I’m not to sure if- If how I feel for you is romantic... I’m not sure, but I really like you, a lot. I’ve always really adored you bunches, dear. Could you... please give me sometime so figure this out with you? I don’t want to hurt you, River.”

Leaping River

The dame could feel her heart skip a beat. Her eyes felt watery all of a sudden. You idiot. ”Oh, of course.” She said blankly, trying to hide her sadness with a smile. ”I’ll give you some time.” Her tail swished around on the ground as she stood up. She finally stood after a long pause. Her paws turned around to walk away. Before she left she stared back Esme Hollow’s green eyes. She loved them so much. They sparkled and were so much more gorgeous than the sun. Her blue and yellow eyes blinked back as she smiled. The white she-cat tried so hard not to choke down on her tears she kept holding back. ”See you tomorrow.” Tears fell down from both her eyes as she said that. Her face turned around and she slowly began to walk away. Soon it turned into a few leaps and then a run. Salty stains of water kept flowing out from Leaping River’s eyes as she didn’t turn back.

Esme Hollow

Esme Hollow gave a rueful smile softly, shaking her head at her friend’s overwhelming amount of tears, trying her best to give her light-hearted vibes, ”I don’t mean it wrongly, know it’s in my best intention. I just don’t quite know myself personally... and I- I need to figure it out, but I won’t leave you answered love. Thank you, River.”
Her concern did not go undetected and as she dashed of, the sunlight was almost down and Leaping River was running after her, calling sweetly as she usually did. Anyone could have mistaken this dame as a siren of the streams that she hopped over. ”Of course! ...—Hey wait! It’s dangerous to go alone!!”

Leaping River

River kept running. She didn’t want to look back. Her breathing became heavy. The world was spinning around her. You idiot...you idiot... Her paws made a sharp left as she catapulted herself into the nearby forest. Her pads got sliced by bracken and hidden thorns, but she didn’t care. She then found a large oak to hide behind. Her tail swerved as well as her body as she hid behind the underbrush. Her eyes were streaming at this point, but she covered her mouth with her paw to avoid making noise.

Short Creek: 752 words
Vixen Petal: 581 words

Short Creek

The burly brown tabby walked around the forest, sniffing the light dew hanging in the air. Leaves were sprouting but the trees were still filled with soft petals. Leaf-bare was heavy, but the time of new prey had come. He stopped by to sniff a camellia, it’s sour but delightful scent wafting through his nose. His green eyes looked around. Today wasn’t too bad. His eyes then locked onto Vixen Petal’s shimmering blue ones. The two stared at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time. The tom finally spoke up. ”Uh...hello there ma’am.”

Vixen Petal

Vixen Petal had left early that morning to go out on a morning hunt, though she was taking a break beside a small stream that raced through the Golden Oak's territory, taking a few moments to fix and groom her pelt. She took a deep pride in looking her absolute best, even when she was only hunting alone. However, hearing a noise behind her, Vixen Petal looked over her shoulder to see Short Creek, staring for a few moments before he greeted her. "Oh! Forgive me, Darlin', where are my manners. Hello, Short Creek. How are you today?"

Short Creek

”Oh, I’m doing well actually,” Short Creek replied, trying not to stare at her glossy pelt. She’s so gorgeous he absentmindedly thought. Not as pretty as Pale Rose though. He missed his previous mate, but his mind had been fluttering slowly away. Vixen Petal’s simple blue eyes only reminded him of Pale Rose’s. ”I suppose you are hunting?” He only went out because it was a nice day, but he might as well catch something for the Pack. ”May I join you if you are?” The tom asked shyly.

Vixen Petal

"I'm glad to hear that." She hummed out and turned back to the stream for a moment, her ears flicking at his words. "Well, yes. I was hunting.. I'm just taking a small break." Vixen Petal smiled and then nodded when he asked to join, her tail curling a little in amusement at his shyness,"Of course, Darlin'. I enjoy the company." The chimeric orange and dark chocolate calico purred out and then stood up, shaking out her pelt a little and stretching,"Shall we?"

Short Creek

The tom nodded his head down. ”Yes, thank you.” The two walked side by side through the fresh evergreen. The more they strolled on, the more Short Creek noticed her beauty. Her calico fur seemed elegant, her movements swift and graceful and her eyes shimmering like stones near a river bank. He seemed almost entranced, but when the dame looked at him, his eyes averted to a white rose. A pale rose he thought instantly. The burly cat steered away and stopped to look at the flower. His cream colored paw gently touched the petals. He still missed his old mate, though it had been so many moons. Short Creek cleared his throat and looked back at Vixen Petal. ”How is your sister? I hear she was courted by the Alpha.”

Vixen Petal

Vixen Petal glanced towards Short Creek, seeing him gently touch a rarely colored white rose. She looked away out of respect, almost able to read his mind. He had a mate once, didn't he? She thought silently back to when she was younger - when everyone was. Too many unfortunate events had occurred for everyone.. Vixen Petal silently wondered to herself what life would be like for her if Hound Fang and her stayed together.. if her kits didn't die. Vixen Petal visibly frowned at the thought though pushed it away when the tom asked about her sister. ”Hmm? Oh, yes. Far as I hear, she may be pregnant. I'll have to speak to her when we get back." She smiled, her mood changing as she thought about having nieces and nephews running around.

Short Creek

”Ahh...more little bundles of fur to trip on..” The tom replied sarcastically. ”Well, tell her I sent my congratulations. Hopefully they are safely delivered and strong.” A dumb idea popped into a head. His claw gently plucked the white rose head off its stem. He looked back at Vixen Petal who seemed prettier in the light. The rose was still in a cream paw. Short Creek sat down in front of her and began to use his other paw to move her fur. When she began to fidgeted, unsurprisingly, he said,“Don’t move. I won’t hurt you.” The tabby tucked the rose behind her calico ear and shone brilliantly in the morning sun. He felt his face go red. She’s so cute..

Vixen Petal

She chuckled softly at his sarcastic comment, knowing that he meant well by it anyways. "I will. I can't wait for them to arrive.. It'll be nice to have nieces and nephews to spoil rotten..!" She commented, her feathery tail curling in amusement at her own comment. Vixen Petal looked curiously over to Short Creek as he plucked the white rose from the stem and moved towards her. She tensed up slightly though didn't move, unsure what he was doing until she felt a very light weight by her ear. Immediately she grew flustered as she realized he placed the rose behind her ear. Vixen Petal's blush was extremely visible as she realized she was at a loss for words.. "I.. Thank you.."

Short Creek

Oh my... This was the dumbest idea he’d probably ever come up with. His face was complete with shades of red and pink. She looked so perfect in the beams of sun, next to the minty green grass with a white rose stuck behind her ear. ”So-sorry!” He began to stutter. I never acted like this around Pale Rose...why am I acting like this now? ”That was, a stupid idea.” Short Creek chuckled at the end, his bushy tail curled up around his paws.

Vixen Petal

The white chimeric dame smiled and looked away, a warm feeling growing in her chest. He was really sweet, wasn't he? She giggled a little at his embarrassment and just shrugged. "No worries, Darlin'. It's nice to.. feel like I did when I was a new warrior again." She hummed out and looked at the stream in front of them, turning her head to admire the rose.. It was really nice.. She decided to keep it. Roses looked good on her.

Vixen Petal turned to Short Creek, a somewhat sad smile on her maw as a question popped into her mind. "..You had a mate once, didn't you?" She asked softly, her voice low. "You don't have to answer if you don't want." Vixen Petal quickly added, feeling a little stupid for asking such a question, afraid of hitting a sour spot.

Short Creek

The tom smiled when she saw the rose in her reflection of the water, admiring it. Then Vixen Petal asked about his old mate. ”No, it’s fine.” He sat next to her near the crystal stream and stared down at his paws. ”I did have a mate once. Her name was Pale Rose, and I still miss her a lot. I’m not the friendliest with my sister, and Rose helped me calm down whenever I felt frustrated with her. She was so sweet and caring, and very social as well. I loved her a lot. She made me feel comfortable.” Short Creek took a deep breath. ”Then those damn shadow monsters came. I’m so glad we haven’t seen one again but even the sight of a shadow moving frightens me. She died by the first one we saw. I was trapped in the medicine den, since I’d inhaled too much smoke from that fire that occurred a long time ago. I couldn’t save her.” His dream paws began to shake, so his tail covered them up. ”I wish she was still around. I know she’d want me to move on and find love again, have a different mate with kits or just be normal and happy, but I can’t. I visit her grave nearly every day. I want her back.” A single tear shed from green eyes.

The 3rd place winner is....:iconghostlinx:La la la la I am a dummy! Thumbnail contest by GhostLinx
This was so simplistic and I had never seen a thumbnail done in this style before. It blew my mind away.

Now for second place...shall be :iconboltingbluebb:Nod :D (Big Grin) Evil spottedleaf AU Map thumbnail by BoltingBlueBB
This legit sent chills through me when I saw this. It gives a sense of horror and that’s mostly justifiable for evil Spottedleaf maps.

And first place goes to.....:iconfrogs-and-moths:ClapLove Meow :3 Huggle! Heart

Congratulations! When the map is completed, this will be the thumbnail!

TSOU Pg 1 Redraw Contest Entry by Furuffy
This piece was done on Medibang, the same program I use. I was utterly shocked and blown away when I saw this in my notification feed. You have rightly deserved first place.

Thank you to everyone who submitted their own art and was apart of this contest!
